Location:
Tuolumne County, CA near Strawberry
Area:
Description:
Well I beleve the elevation is about 6000 feet, it was a beautiful clear, dry, crisp morning around 11:am the surounding terrain was basically mountainous, but the exact area had a small creek, probably carrys winter run off, lots of big rocks cutting through the edge of the medow area, meadows are slightly flat to rolling, shrubs/bushes all around I am not sure of the names, lots of tall to medium trees with bright yellow leaves some falling to the ground, the rest twinkling in the trees from a slight breeze touching them, the truncks white, with white branches, some pine trees mixed in, all surrounded by 200 to 300 maybe higher rock cliff like ridges, I say shaped like a horse shoe type of canyon, surounding area had lots of tall pines, rocks, steep to meadium mountains, at the very top of the ridges there appeared to be some flat clear but rocky meadow area with some pine trees mixed in, also surounded by heavy forest area.

Incident Description:
Well my morning started at 5:am I had camped at the bottom of this portion of the mountain, I crawled out of the back of my truck and got ready to head up, around 5:30am using the stars for my only light, I started up a closed logging road, open to foot trafic only, hopeing to arive at the top before daylight, I was moving right along, I new where I was going because I had been there the afternoon before hunting for deer, I had spooked some stuff up that eaving, that I did not see, but heard, I had also seen a coyotee cruzing the edge of the medow, it looked like this might be a great place to hunt the following morning, so that morning I arrive at the edge of the medow, and crawel in some brush, as daylight came, looking a cross the meadow I seen two doe coming at me, they pass, now around 7:30am, I heard a noise like somthing steping on a unbalanced rock in the creek bed just to the right of me, then aprox.15 to 20 minutes go by, and I hear what sounded to me to be a solid peice of wood hitting a rock, more like if some one had a base ball bat and pounded a rock like they ment it, three times in a row, this was to the front right of me, maybe 175 feet in front of the rock noise, all behinde some brush that was blocking my view, I am still in position in the brush, about an hour go's by and I hear what souds like large sticks breaking almost directly in front of me about 200 yards away, again behinde some brush that was blocking my view, I give it about Another hour before deciding to hunt the edge of the entire medow, up against the tree line, the old closed road continues through the edge of medow, a portion of the road had been coverd in straw, not sure why but it made walking a little quiter, I very slowly started in to the right edge of the medow, looking at every thing very close, as I close in on the back right corner of the cannon medow, just about 250 yards in front of me up to the right I see a very large boulder, and to the right of that there is a clear oblong medow maybe 35 feet deep and 60 to 70 feet long leading from the very large boulder to the creek bed leading into the side of the, what appeard to be the cliffs edge, with lots of trees, I was stairing at this location because it looked out of place, almost like a putting green with out the green, it was a yellow straw color, when all of a sudden somthing comes from behinde the the very large boulder, heading towards the upper part of the creek bed, against the cliffs edge, disapearing into the trees, now the way this thing walked was quick, not running, leaning slightly forward, arms long, swinging only slightly, but enough to notice, movement very smooth, outside shoulders seamed to go upward towrad where you might think the ears might be on a human, cone shaped slightly rounded at the top head, legs seamed to be short, torso to top of head longer, color was a tan, blonde, orange, not dark but light in color, that almost the color of a black tail dear, ok here is the answer to that, I have been hunting deer for about 30 years now, I have seen alot of deer, and have taken my share through the years, along with some black bear, this was neither, I was considering putting my riffle scope on it for a better view in the few seconds I had to view it with my eyes, but for some reason I just could not do it thinking it looked to human what if it was and they turned to see me pointing a riffle strait at them, not a very good feeling I think, and no binoculers to use, I have good eyes, and a strait head with a family of six, and as a parent I teach honesty, and integerty, and lead by example, this is the second time I have seen such a thing in aprox three years, the first was black and grey in color a full back of the body shot at aprox 30 feet away, siting in Elk California again on a hunting trip, I did not report that one, I was very sceptical, but now this new siting yesterday, I felt the need to share this information with some one that might be able to do somthing with it.

Investigation Report:
Interviewed the witness by phone in two different conversations. Witness is a 42 year old male who has been hunting for 30+ years and is at home in the wilderness. On October 27, 2006 while hunting in the early morning hours, he heard what sounded like someone balancing on a rock in a nearby stream at around 7:30 am and also heard what sounded like someone hitting a rock with a large piece of wood twenty minutes later. He was hunting deer in an area known as the 'Punch Bowl' in the Western Sierras. At around 11:00 am from behind a very large rock at about 200+ yards(his estimation) he saw something move out and to the right toward a small group of trees uphill. He guesses his sighting lasted maybe 20 seconds.
At first witness was 'pissed' when he saw what he thought was a hunter going up the slope. He had scoped the area out the day before and figured he wouldn't run into another hunter there. What confused him at first was it appeared that it looked like a hunter wearing deerskin camoflage. He described the color of the thing he saw as a tan-orange color of a deer-fawn.He also noted that it looked like it was wearing a same colored 'hoodie' style sweat shirt as the top of its head appeared as pointed at the top.But witness also noted that the 'thing' was not carrying a gun or rifle in its hands. He said what he saw appeared to be about 6-7 feet tall and weighed between 275-300 pounds. He also noted what he thought was fringe or hair hanging from parts of its body. He wanted to scope it so he could get a better look but did not want to scope in on something that was bipedal.
Witness noted that arms seemed abnormally long in comparison to a human being. As the 'thing' walked, its arms moved very smoothly. As it walked away uphill and towards some trees it didn't acknowledge the hunter. The area was mostly pines with some aspen at about the 6000 foot level. The hunters best view was from the creatures right side but he couldn't see any eyes or ears,
On Saturday November 18, 2006, I made a 400 mile trip to the Western Sierras to meet the witness. He, his son and I along with my lab retriever met at the Mi-Wuk ranger station. We then drove about a half-hour until we came to the closed logging road he had traversed about three weeks earlier. The witness was very accurate in his reconstruction of events. He was able to show me the approximate area where he heard the rock balancing in the creek and the area where he heard the wood hitting rock. Strangely enough, we found a large piece of wood by a rock in the middle of the meadow.where the witness guessed the pounding might have come from. We then walked a few hundred yards up the closed logging road and stopped and saw the area where the witness saw the bipedal creature. Though the witness guessed the range of the sighting at about 200 yards, when we reconstructed the experience, he and I agreed the range was closer to 150 yards. There is no doubt in my mind he did get a clear view of the creature and the view was unimpeded by any trees or shrubbery. The area was exactly as he had explained in his initial report.
Next we traced the route the creature might have taken to the rock. Once up in the rock area we looked around but found nothing of any real consequence. We did find one small pine that had been broken. It was at the three foot level and looked rather recent. We continued our search following the upper level of the bowl area bushwacking until we came to the top, a kind of ridge area where he had heard some grunting and heavy breathing later. Along the way we found some fresh impressions on the hill side that measured about 13-14 inches in length. At least one of the impressions appeared to have a midtarsal break that is frequently tied to possible sasquatch prints. I was unable to measure the width when we found them since my measuring tools were back at the truck. I know the tracks were the length they were as I used my hat and digital camera to measure length at the time and measured the hat and camera together it when I got home. We followed these impressions until we lost them in the brush. The witness found the impressions strange and didn't believe they were the result of a 'double tap' of a bears front and rear paws hitting in the same spot. We also found a rather interesting impression near these footprints. It appeared as if something had sat down under a small natural covering leaving a type of 'butt' crease in the soft pine duff and dirt. Also it looked like something had stuck finger like appendages into the soft dirt to push itself up. I took pictures of the 'foot like' impressions we found but wasn't able to get any angle on the sitting position for pictures as the extreme slope, shade and size made a picture unusable for these purposes. Both the 'foot like' and 'butt' type impressions looked very fresh, within the last 24 hours of our viewing in my opinion.
