Incident Description:
Witness was driving alone when she saw the creature standing just off the roadway (approximately 3-4 feet from where the tires would be) and "applied the brakes".She was worried about what to do next, she was afraid to drive by it, she needed to turn around and she couldn't back down the mountain road. She just watched it, watching her and got scared because it stared at her car the entire time and showed no fear of the automobile. She was extremely worried that there might be more of them. When she finally glanced behind her to see if there was any safe way she could back down the mountain road, and then looked back to where the creature was, it was gone. She said that there was no way it could have gone up the side of the mountain, because she still would have been able to view it. She said it must have gone down the drop off. She also noticed broken limbs that were not broken previous to where it had been standing, and thinks it may have grabbed the limbs as it went down the steep drop off.
Subject Description:
Light brown, over 7 foot tall (based on her son's height of 6'4".) Very stocky build and guestimates weight at over 300lbs.Hair length was approximately 3" overall.

Investigation Report:
Myself, husband, son, and SRI Associate Scott Schubbe drove out to the general area of the sighting, prior to my phone interview with the witness.

We found the area to be what one would consider appropriate habitat for these animals. The general area is rugged with high embankments and steep drop-offs, low human population, abundant water supply by natural creeks, and national forest boundaries.

Throughout the interview, the witness expressed a mixture of fear along with astonishment at what she had seen. She opted to keep the actual location private, not only for her own reasons but also because the property at the location of the sighting was for sale. She was concerned that if word got out about what she had seen at that location, no one would want to buy the property.

At 74 years of age, she has lived in the area for 34 years and is a well-known figure in her community. She was worried that if she told anyone in her small town what she had seen, people would not believe her and she would be ridiculed.
