Nose Description

In order to get a clear picture of what this creature really looks like, it is necessary to focus on some of the fine detail. Unfortunately, very few people give much information in the way of fine detail. Perhaps it is because the creature doesn’t stick around long enough to allow the witness to soak this information in. I think it’s probably more likely that someone who encounters one of these creatures is more concerned with survival than with what its nose looks like. Nevertheless, out of the 50 reports in this study, 10 of them did give a description of the creature’s nose.

Two (2%) reported a monkey-like nose, 4% reported a wide and flat nose, 2% reported a flat nose that was turned upward, 2% reported a wide nose, 4% reported the nose was flatter than a human nose, 2% reported a long, straight and narrow nose, 2% reported a big and slightly upturned nose, 2% reported the nose to be gorilla-like, but pushed up, while 80% did not give a description of the nose.

Although there is a small amount of data from which to draw conclusions, I do think some reasonable conclusions can be made. For instance, of the 10 reports that did give a description of the nose, 60% reported a flat or wide nose and 30% reported an upturned nose. That number may be interpreted at 40% when you consider a monkey-like nose would likely be upturned at the end. Only 20% reported a long, straight narrow nose. I feel this data gives us a picture of a nose that is flat, wide, and slightly upturned at the end. An important thing to remember in this section and others that give fine detail is that characteristics may vary quite a bit from creature to creature.

Eye Description

We’ve probably all heard stories of eyes that glow in the dark or shine an eerie red. The data from this section does not support those claims. Only 13 of 50 reports gave a description of the creature’s eyes.

Two percent (2%) reported reddish-brown eyes with very little white, 2% reported eyes that were impossibly small for the size of the head, 2% reported eyes somewhat like a monkey’s, 2% reported big, brown, soft, and thoughtful eyes that did not appear aggressive, 2% reported black eyes, 2% reported a golden hue or tint to the eyes, 2% reported large and dark eyes, 2% reported solid brown eyes with no whites, 2% reported grayish-white eyes, 2% reported dark eyes, but not deep set like a gorilla, 2% reported very dark brown, ape-like eyes, 2% reported dark eyes, and 2% reported the eyes were like a man’s.

Image

With such a variation in the reports, it would appear at first glance to offer very little in the way of hard data. However, when you consider the following statistics taken from that data, you might find a different perspective. Of the reports that did give a description of the eyes, 53.85% reported a dark shade of eye color. When you take out the reports that didn’t give eye color description, 77.78% reported a dark shade of eye color.

From this data, I think we can reasonably conclude that the eye color of this creature is dark in color in most cases. Since the exact color does vary in reports, it might be considered that eye color varies, much like it does in humans.

Ear Description

Only 10% or 5 out of 50 reports in this study made mention of ears in regards to this creature. Two percent (2%) reported somewhat monkey-like ears, 2% reported the ears were not visible, 2% reported the ears were small for the head, 2% reported very small ears, and 2% reported ears that were close to the head.

Image

Since so few reported any ear description, and of those that did, 80% reported the ears were either small, not visible, or close to the head, I am led to believe that the ears on this creature are difficult to see. The reason they are difficult to see may be because they are small and close to the head. I would imagine that the hair of its head may partially conceal the ears as well.

Shape of Head

Out of the 50 reports in this study, 19 gave a description of the creature’s head. I assumed before I ever started this study that a conical-shaped head with a visible sagital crest would make up the vast majority reported. However, the data surprised me somewhat.

Two (2%) reported the creature had a fat head, 4% reported that creature had a cone-shaped head, 6% reported a dome-shaped head, 6% reported an oblong head, 2% reported a large head, 14% reported a round head, 2% reported a human-shaped head, and 2% reported it was shaped like a human or monkey’s head.

Image

If you’re like me, you see some major inconsistencies in this data. Of those that reported on the shape of the head, 42.11% reported a conical or dome-shaped head, while 36.84% reported a round-shaped head.

What conclusions can we draw from this data? If we are to take these reports at face value and continue in the spirit this study was started, then we must make the reasonable assumption that the shape of the creature’s head varies from round to conical in shape, at least in this region of the United States. For the purpose of this study, I will go with the majority of the data, which states that the creature had a conical or dome-shaped head.

Facial Hair

Only 15 of the 50 reports in this study gave specific mention to the facial hair present on the creature. Several more reports stated that the creature was covered in hair, but they were not specific as to what part of the creature was covered. Some witnesses stated the creature was covered in hair, and then later reported the face had little or no hair. Because of this, I did not include the “covered” descriptions when considering facial hair.

Two percent (2%) reported the creature had whiskers, 4% reported the facial hair on the creature was somewhat like a monkey, 12% reported the creature had little or no hair on its face, 2% reported thin hair around the mouth, 2% reported the creature’s face was half covered in hair, 2% reported there was no hair around the eyes and mouth, 4% reported that the face was somewhat covered in hair, and 2% reported there to be no hair between the forehead and mouth.

Image

Of the 15 reports that did make mention of facial hair, 40% reported that the creature had little or no hair on its face. No witness reported that the creature’s face was completely bare. In fact, the remaining 60% reported there to be a little hair on the face. Looking at each of the reports gives one a picture of a creature with hair on its face much like a bearded man, only slightly more hairy. The creature likely has little or no hair on, or directly around, its eyes and nose.

Jaw Line

In hindsight, I see I was grasping for straws in my hopes of attaining a clear picture of the creature’s jaw line. In fact, only 2 out of 50 reports mentioned information that might be relevant to this area. One report stated that the creature had a Jay Leno-like chin. The other reported that creature was flat-faced.

Image

Although it would seem no viable information could be gleaned from this, I do think there is something noteworthy to mention. Many reports from previous characteristic categories mentioned the creature was monkey-like in appearance when describing the head and face area. Again in this section, the flat-faced description is consistent with that of an ape-like creature. I believe it is reasonable to conclude from the overall data within this report that this creature does have ape-like characteristics in the structural features of its face.

Skin Color

Since we have already determined that this creature is mostly covered in hair, it makes sense that very few would report the skin color of this creature. However, 9 out of the 50 reports in this study did make mention of the creature’s skin color.

Two percent (2%) reported that the skin was lighter than the dark- colored hair, 2% reported that the creature had black skin, 6% reported the creature had dark-colored skin, 2% reported the creature had tan skin, 2% reported the creature had pinkish- colored skin, and 4% reported the creature had brown skin.

Image

The report of the pink-colored skin is really the only report of the 9 that seems out of place. All the others report a dark- colored skin, except for one report, which stated the creature’s skin was lighter than the dark-colored hair. This report is not specific enough to determine the actual color of the subject’s skin. Nevertheless, we can conclude that the creature has dark-colored skin, which is backed by 77.78% of the 9 reports. Just how dark the skin is may vary slightly from creature to creature.

Lip Description

Only 4 out of the 50 reports in this study made mention of how the lips of this creature appeared. Two percent (2%) reported the lips were in a frowning position, 2% reported the lips were very thin, 2% reported the creature had a thick upper lip, 2% reported the creature had a pronounced lower lip.

Image

Obviously, the report that mentioned the creature’s lips appeared to be frowning is of very little use in this study. This leaves us with one witness who describes the lips as thin, one witness that describes a thick upper lip, and one witness that describes a pronounced lower lip.

In analyzing this data, I feel it is once again important to go back and look at the previous sections of this study. When considering this creature’s face may well be ape-like in appearance, it would give credence to the report of a pronounced lower lip.

Teeth

It should not be surprising that only 3 out of 50 reports made mention of this creature’s teeth. Two percent (2%) reported that the teeth seemed sharper than human teeth, 2% reported the teeth were flat like humans, 2% reported that the teeth reminded him of horse teeth.

Image

Those who have seen horse teeth know they are large and often discolored. It would make sense, given the large size of this creature’s skull that it would have large teeth. It would also make sense that the teeth would be ape-like or flat like humans, but show signs of wear. For this reason, given the little data given and keeping in the spirit of this report, I will describe the teeth as large, discolored, and worn in appearance.
