The Bigfoot Mystery, The Adventure Begins

Chapter seven is a short chapter where the younger brother’s memory returns and he can remember his encounter on the trail. This sets the reader up for the last section of the book where the family gets their hands dirty as they get in the field for further exploration and research.

Chapters eight through eleven close out this fun to read children’s book. The families get to hang out with some serious bigfoot researchers and get to have their own exciting experiences. Bigfoot protocol is explained and for the uninformed reader the how-to and wherefores of fieldwork are shared.

Leiterman has done an excellent job of combining entertainment and education in this fun reading book. The story runs smoothly and the only section where my son got a little tired was in the museum section of the book. Where an adult would enjoy all the information in this section, a child could lose interest at times. The only other suggestion I might make is that the book could have undergone a more thorough proofreading before going to the press. ImageOn the positive side this book also is a good read for any adult who likes bigfoot related stories. All of the characters and situations are believable. The author also does a good job of getting under a bigfoot’s skin and gives us a window into how the creature might feel and react to its world. This novel is the first of three in a trilogy that Leiterman has assembled, the other two are Operation Redwood Quest: Search For Answers and Yeti or Not, Here We Come: Bigfoot in the Redwoods.
