Needless to say, each bigfoot gathering has it’s ‘fringe’ element that can make the gathering colorful or annoying, depending on your point of view. And yes, ‘he who cannot be mentioned’ (HWCBM) made an appearance in Santa Cruz that night. He walked in and out of the talk snapping pictures of various people and looking obsessed. It was abnormally hot for Santa Cruz that night, so all windows and doors were open for ventilation. During Dr. J’s talk some street person in dreadlocks kept walking down the hall with a type of bamboo wind chime which made all sorts of racket. Some doors had to be closed to stop the distraction. Some of the people who know of HWCBM thought he might have paid this street urchin money to cause this disruption during Dr. J’s talk - guess we’ll never know. At the end of Dr. J’s talk during the question and answer session, HWCBM raised his hand to tell that he had his own exhibition across the hall for anyone who had further questions. When I peeked in later there were three or four of the uninitiated looking around at his various pictures of “shape shifters” and blobsquatches.

In closing this article that ended up being much longer than I had planned, a new conspiracy theory was thrown at me. While I don’t give HWCBM much power or thought, those who have issues with him told me that there are several theories floating around about him. Everyone wonders where he gets all his money - apparently he has lots of it. Well, the first theory is that he actually isn’t all that off his rocker, the fear is he is getting paid by the timber industry to make the serious bigfooters all look a little whacko so no one takes us seriously and therefore, no serious research will be accepted that could lead to actually discovering bigfoot and of course, shutting down logging to a major scale. Let us not forget the spotted owl. Then the other theory that is similar to the first one is that HWCBM is getting paid by the U.S. government to basically do the same thing.
