What is the Sasquatch Research Initiative?

The Sasquatch Research Initiative (SRI) is a confederation of independent research groups and individuals brought together by our passion for uncovering the truth about the existence of Sasquatch. We strive to investigate all reasonable avenues of discovery and to hold one another to the highest standards possible.

What are SRI’s goals?

SRI is committed to openly sharing research data among all members, as well as the interested public. To that end, we are compiling an online database of reliable sighting reports. Education, the setting of higher investigatory standards, and ultimately solving the mystery of Sasquatch are paramount to our efforts.

Do you intend to capture or kill a bigfoot?

In the field of bigfoot research, few topics are as divisive as the pro-kill/no-kill argument. Due to our organizational structure, SRI does not take—in fact, cannot take—an official position on this issue. As for capturing a Sasquatch, the logistics of this endeavor—and the very real danger—make it practically unsound. But should you manage to pull it off, please, let us know.

Who is in charge of SRI? How are you funded?

No one individual makes the decisions about the direction of SRI. Some of us have been here longer than others, but no member’s voice weighs more heavily than another’s. We all work together to avoid the common “one man, one vote” paradigm of the past. Each decision is made democratically, with the input of our full membership.

We are also very much decentralized in our funding. Members generally support their own efforts themselves. We have no “sugar daddy” paying the bills.

I am interested in joining a research group. How do I know if SRI is right for me?

The greatest asset of SRI is the incredible resources of our membership. We feel that our combined experience, knowledge, enthusiasm and networking capabilities are unparalleled in the field of Sasquatch research. New voices are always welcome. Should you wish to join us, simply submit your name and credentials to our website administrator and your membership will be brought up for a vote.

How can I report my Sasquatch sighting to SRI?

On our homepage, click the “Report a sighting” link in the main menu, or the button at the right of the header. This will take you to our online sighting report submission form. After you complete the form, one of our representatives will contact you for further information and a possible follow up report. We are committed to keeping all contact information strictly confidential.

My best friend’s cousin’s girlfriend saw a 12-foot tall green Sasquatch flying a UFO. Do you want to talk to her?

In a word: no. We consider Sasquatch to be a flesh and blood animal and will not entertain reports to the contrary. If you have such a report, there are many places to submit it other than here. Hoaxes and fanciful reports of a paranormal nature are costly and time consuming to investigate. We do not intend to waste your time, so please, do not waste ours.
