We are saddened to report that SRI Associate Andrew L. Kavelish passed away on April 27, 2007. It was a short while ago, August 22nd to be exact, when Andy and I were conversing and he said, “LOL, well I suppose I’ll find out tomorrow how much longer I might live.” He went on to explain he was having trouble with his “tummy” area. I jokingly said this might be serious, he might have to give up his favorite foods and that would kill anyone. “Well, my doctor said it’s really possibly the big C” Andy answered. “You need a cesarian?!” was my reply. His reply was “Well, I suppose I should ask the doctor tomorrow if a hisdarerectomy will take care of everything.” In the following weeks and months, we talked often. He maintained his wonderful sense of humor through it all. I admire his strength and unselfish character. He worried more about how his illness was affecting his family than he did about his own feelings. I don’t know how I would have handled what he faced, but I know he loved his wife and two sons very much and our collective hearts go out to them in their loss. R.I.P. legend2_1971, you are gone, but not forgotten. |
